Looking back across the years, so many pictures flash on the screen of my memory. After quitting the IT industry, I wanted to restart something of my own, while also being able to spend as much time as possible with my son and be there for him as he grew.
“ViJos” was suggested by my partner when I started my first naive blog, way back in 2009. While the next set of ViJos, namely ViJos Kitchen Corner, ViJos Designer Bangles and ViJos Designs, travelled with us for quite a few years, with a little bit of blogging now and then, there was always a strong urge to take up something that would connect with children.
That’s when the idea of a bookstore began, and we took our first step with ViJos Books Barn on 17th March 2017, which later transformed into a lending library.
What started with a simple intention of bringing children closer to books gradually grew into something much more meaningful. Our journey initially centered around reading and Early Childhood Development, but along the way, it naturally evolved into creating a space for learning, skill building and overall personal growth.
From nurturing early literacy and language skills in children, our journey has expanded to include learners across age group. Today, our space brings together children, college students and adults, each with their own learning needs, interests and aspirations.
From a small beginning with books and stories, we have gradually grown into a space where people can read, learn, communicate, discover, develop and grow. Becoming an author and two of my books receiving awards has been another meaningful milestone along this journey.
We are grateful to have beneficiaries of all age groups from our library and other sessions. But rather than measuring this journey in terms of milestones or success, I cherish what I have learnt along the way. Each and every one of you has helped me transform, learn and evolve over the years.
All I can say is I am extremely grateful and thankful. And yes, my very first gratitude will always be to my two Super Heroes, for holding me up at all times!
Looking forward to spreading our wings a little wider, every single day, with more persistence, and of course, with a little more EFFORT.
